Catfish still the best bet here, with limit or near-limit action reported. The backs of coves such as Johnson’s, Clark’s and Cachuma have been the top locations, but they have been coming in just about all over the lake. Fly-lined mackerel and packaged dough baits are getting the best results. Bass angling has slowed some, but limits are still pretty easy to come by. Top waters early, then jigs, Texas rigs and deep cranks producing later in the day. Trout fishing has been fair for those trolling 8 to 9 colors of leadcore with dodger/crawler combos, or drifting worms 40 to 60 feet around the damn. The crappie bite is fair in the narrows and Santa Cruz Bay on mini-jigs tipped with mealworms or crappie nibbles. Bow fishing still good around the dam and mouth of Clark Canyon early.
