Firestone’s Host Night of Wine and Song

Kate and Brook’s Firestone opened their home on Friday evening, June 29th to a Santa Barbara Choral Society fundraiser to benefit the choir’s second trip to Italy. After wine and hors d’oeuvres under the backyard’s sprawling oaks, almost four hundred people packed into the Pole Barn for a full concert-preview. Directing the choir was Jo Anne Wasserman, who is in her 14th season as musical director of Santa Barbara’s longest running choral tradition.

A Mother’s Intuition

The choir arrives in Italy on July 11th for two weeks of concerts, of which the most anticipated is a coveted and rare invitation to sing evensong in the Vatican. Among the repertoire are pieces by Haydn, Palestrina and Copeland. For information on upcoming local concerts please visit www.sbchoral.org.
