Local Writer Releases
6th Comic Book
By Leanne Elliott
Ryan Claytor, a Santa
Ynez High School Class of ’97 graduate, held a book singing at the Book
Loft in Solvang on Sunday, July 15th. Claytor
recently released his 6th book in a series of comic books titled “And
Then One Day”. A steady steam of fans waited as he signed and doodle on
the inside cover of each book, while discussing his inspiration for the series.
This most recent release is formatted as a daily journal,
inspired by Claytor’s graduate school studies
on the topic of autobiography. Ryan speculates that autobiography is not
absolute truth, but rather the perception of what one has come to believe is
true about oneself. The test of his theory is found in the pages of a humorous,
self effacing, autobio comic strip. Copies of
“And Then One Day” are available at the Book Loft in Solvang.

Protest signs were raised high before the start
of July 12th’s City Council meeting at the
Inside the school’s auditorium it was
standing room only as developers, contractors and Buellton residents petitioned
their plans, hopes and fears before the panel of five City Council members. A
mall, commercial office space, hotel, wine tasting facilities, and mixed-use
recreation are all part of the proposed plans. The Council terminated the
“Sphere of Influence” study at Wednesday’s meeting, but no
final decisions will be made about the larger plans for up to six months, as
further research and information is presented to the Council and the community.
