Forgery

610 Alamo Pintado Rd., Solvang (Los Padres Bank)

A Los Padres Bank employee reported that a 19-year-old male from Santa Barbara opened a bank account and deposited a fraudulent check in the amount of $3,200 and withdrew the same amount directly after opening the account. After checking ChexSystems, the employee found that the man was suspected of check fraud in the past. Police contacted the Chumash Casino in hopes that the suspect would have visited the casino. He had, and police matched surveillance photos to identify the suspect. No arrests have been made. The case is still under investigation.

 

Child Endangerment

1600th Block of Fir Avenue, Solvang

Police received a report that a 31 year-old female from Solvang allegedly drank too much alcohol and lost consciousness while holding her two month-year-old infant. The suspect then began to vomit on the infant while the infant was asleep on her chest. Attempts were made to wake the mother, but were unsuccessful. She was taken to the Santa Ynez Valley College Hospital and the case was sent to the D.A.’s office for review.

 

Burglary

2900th Block of East Highway 246, Santa Ynez

An adult male reported that unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a business office and stole a plasma television valued at $3,450. No fingerprints could be found at the scene but a faint shoe print on top of the counter where the television was displayed was photographed. A report was taken and a follow-up is to be handled by patrol.

Arrest

Alisal Road at Mission Drive

A 21-year-old male from Kent Field, Calif. was arrested for public intoxication after he was observed arguing with his girlfriend. Police also observed that his eyes were watery and bloodshot, that he was swaying, and unable to care for himself. After the suspect was in custody he began to yell profanities at the police. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Highway 154 East of San Lucas Ranch

A 19-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for having outstanding warrants after police pulled him over for speeding. Police found a dagger and a knife on the man. The suspect had also allegedly lied to police about his identification. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

 

Arrest

50th Block of Via Juana, Santa Ynez

A 27-year-old male from Santa Ynez was arrested for misusing a 9-1-1 emergency line after police responded to a noise complaint at his residence. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

 

Bicycle Theft

1800th Block of Ringsted Drive, Solvang

A 54-year-old male from Solvang reported that unknown suspect(s) stole a black and silver Fisher bicycle and a green Easton bicycle from his residence. A report was taken for follow-up.

Arrest

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 46-year-old male from Santa Paula, Calif. was arrested for false impersonation of another person and allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance. After a routine stop, police noticed that the suspect appeared to be very excited and talkative. When police asked for the man’s driver’s license, he claimed to have left it at home and told police his name was “Jaime Rudolpho Carrera.” The information proved to be false. Police observed that the man’s pupils were slow to react to light. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County jail and booked on a $50,000 bail.

2700th Block of Baseline Street, Santa Ynez

A 28-year-old male was arrested for prowling after police received a report of him allegedly attempting to enter a residence. The suspect could not explain why he was at the residence. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Vehicle Tampering

3200th Block of Baseline, Solvang

A 20-year-old male from Solvang reported that a 22-year-old male from Solvang had an extra keyless remote to his vehicle and had used it to set off the alarm at night time. No arrests were made and a report was taken for a follow-up.

 

Arrest

2700th Block of Stow Street, Los Olivos

A 31-year-old male from Buellton was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance after he was contacted by police at the request of his parole agent. After searching the suspect, police found a syringe in his back pocket. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 47-year-old male from Oak View, Calif. was arrested for trespassing after he had been banned from the casino for cashing a lost slot ticket payout slip. Suspect was taken to the Santa Maria Jail.

Prowling

3100th Block of Cimarron Drive, Santa Ynez

A 49-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported hearing a window rattling at her house. When police showed up at the residence they found that a screen had been removed from the window. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

 

Arrest

Alisal Road and Elverhoy Way, Solvang

A 50-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police observed that she did not stop at a stop sign. Police reported a strong odor of alcohol coming form the suspect after the suspect’s alcohol level was greater than .08% she was taken to the Santa Barbara Sherriff’s Department.

A 29-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested for allegedly trespassing after he had been banned from the casino. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

1500th Block of Viking Way, Solvang

A 72-year-old female from Solvang reported that unknown suspect(s) broke into her residence then stole $3,600 worth of gold jewelry which included necklaces, watches, and bracelets. A report was taken and recommended for a detective follow-up.

 

Found Colt Carcass

Refugio Road, Santa Ynez

A 46-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported finding the remains of a young colt in the process of rescuing an injured fox. Police suspect that the carcass had been disposed of by its owners.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 49-year-old male from Ventura was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance and being in the possession of un-prescribed medication. The suspect had been sustained by security after being found hunched over. The suspect admitted to using methamphetamine days earlier and police determined that he was under the influence of a controlled substance. After searching the suspect they found a baggy with three pills inside. The suspect’s urine sample tested positive for methamphetamine. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

50th Block of Via Juana, Santa Ynez

A 21-year-old male reported that a 23-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, both from Santa Maria, stole a baby stroller. Later, the owner of the stroller observed the suspects driving a black Chevy truck and decided to follow them. The police found the stroller in the bed of the suspect’s truck and the victim was able to identify the stroller. Both suspects were taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Cachuma Lake, Santa Barbara

A 39-year-old male from Maywood, Calif. was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol and being in possession of marijuana after police observed him speeding. Less than an ounce of marijuana was found in the suspect’s vehicle and he failed the field sobriety test. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 39-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for allegedly disturbing the peace after throwing a chair. The suspect admitted to police that he had purposely visited the casino to make a scene and get arrested because he wanted to embarrass his wife to try and stop her from gambling. The suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 37-year-old male from Ventura was arrested for the transportation and sale of a controlled substance. Police suspected the man was under the influence of a controlled substance and conducted a search. Police found 16 grams of methamphetamine that was individually packaged for sale. The suspect’s urine tested positive for amphetamines. The suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

1300th Block of Cimarron Drive, Santa Ynez

A 22-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported that unknown suspect(s) broke into his vehicle and stole $700 worth of property, including a Kenwood radio and C.D. player. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

A 23-year-old female from Mesa, Arizona was arrested for domestic battery after she was observed kicking her ex-boyfriend in front of the casino. Suspect was taken to the Santa Barbara County jail.
