Highway 246 at Sanja Cota St., Santa Ynez

A 32-year-old male from Santa Maria was cited for allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license after police pulled him over for having an illegible registration tab. His vehicle was left at a Chumash Casino Parking lot, to be picked up later by a licensed driver.

 

Citation

South bound on Highway 154, North of Highway 246

A 22-year-old male from Oxnard was issued a citation for allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license and having a defective windshield after police observed the passenger of the car throwing a cigarette out of the window. Though the driver did not have a license, he did present a Mexican identification card. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Atterdag at Fir St., Solvang

A 21-year-old male from Lompoc was issued a citation for having a non-bookable warrant, after police noticed that his red Chevy Silverado truck did not have a front license plate, a cracked windshield and a modified muffler. He was released at the scene.

Arrest

616 Alamo Pintado Road, Solvang (Rite-Aid)

A 37-year-old male from Santa Barbara was arrested for allegedly burglarizing the store. The suspect reportedly stole two large gift bags containing 12 bottles of liquor. A patroling officer was flagged down by a Nielsen’s Market employee, who pointed to a man running away from the scene, who she identified as the burglar. Police apprehended the man and he was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail and booked on two charges of burglary and one charge of resisting arrest.

Highway 101 at Highway 154, Los Olivos

A 37-year-old male from Santa Maria was issued a citation for allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license and no proof of automobile insurance, after police pulled him over for speeding. The man claimed that he had a valid license that was not in his possession, but later admitted that his license was suspended for a previous DUI offense. His vehicle was impounded and he was released.

 

Juvenile Problem

Horizon Road at Refugio Road, Santa Ynez

A female from Santa Ynez reported that she suspected drug activity outside the Refugio high school campus. She reported seeing unnamed suspects exchange what seemed to be like drugs. An incident report was taken.

Grand Theft

900th block of Mount Ridge Road, Santa Ynez

A 28-year-old male reported that his Honda generator had been stolen from the back of his truck. The generator was described as a having a “BIWAKE” decal on its top. The victim said he had left the generator in the back of his truck parked in his driveway. He also said he had not heard any disturbance. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Citizen’s Arrest

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 45-year-old female from Oxnard was placed under citizen’s arrest by casino staff for allegedly trespassing on casino property. She was reportedly banned for life for prior counterfeit and narcotics arrest. The woman reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine the morning of the incident. After being given a test, Police found her to be under the influence of the drug. She was taken to the Solvang police station and later released.

Arrest

2,000th block of Village Lane, Solvang

A 35-year-old male from Ballard was arrested for battery after he allegedly punched and bit a 36-year-old male from Solvang in an altercation. Police determined that the fight was a mutual combat situation. A restraining order was issued against the man from Ballard and he was taken to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department.  

 

Burglary

2621 Highway 154, Santa Ynez (Los Olivos Grocery Store)

A 56-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown suspect(s) triggered an alarm after attempting to break into the store. He said he found the front doors pushed inward; it seemed as if someone tried to force them open. He did not report anything missing. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Vandalism

Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, Santa Ynez

Police received a report that an unknown suspect(s) vandalized his vehicle and caused dents in the rear tail gate. Police found faint shoeprints on the panel, which they believe were made by someone kicking the car. The victim said he believed that the suspect was someone from an opposing football team. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Commercial Burglary

1529 Mission Drive, Solvang (Olsen’s Bakery)

A 41-year-old male from Lompoc reported that unknown suspect(s) entered the bakery and attempted to force open two cash registers, but were unsuccessful. The suspects reportedly used a slim jim to open the doors of the bakery. Nothing was reported missing. A report was taken and submitted for a detective follow-up.

A 23-year-old male from Santa Barbara was issued a citation for allegedly driving without a license, after police pulled him over for turning without signaling. He was cited and released at the scene.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 28-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for allegedly violating his parole by being in possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to the casino by staff. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

 

Arrest

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 36-year-old male from Ventura and a 42-year-old male from Oxnard were arrested for allegedly being in possession of methamphetamine, after casino staff apprehended the two suspects. Police found two baggies containing six grams of methamphetamine. The 42-year-old suspect was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested. Both suspects were taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Arrest

900th block of College Canyon Road, Solvang

A 45-year-old male from Buellton was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of a controlled substance after an officer was flagged down by the suspect, who exited his vehicle and was hysterically stating that “someone had threatened his life and pushed him to the ground.” He could not identify where the incident took place or any suspects. When speaking with the officer, the suspect admitted to smoking and growing his own marijuana. He also spoke about being a jeweler and how many times he went to prison. The man tested positive for oxycodone, methamphetamine, opiate and benzodiazepines. He was taken to the Solvang Police Station and later released.

600th block of East Highway 246, Solvang

A 24-year-old male from Solvang reported that his black specialized Enduro bicycle had been stolen. The bike was worth $2,400. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Grand Theft

2975 East Highway 256, Santa Ynez (Santa Ynez Valley Union High School)

Police received a report that unknown suspect(s) unlawfully entered a locker on the campus and stole a purse and it contents, which included a cell phone and other items. The victim reported not knowing who would commit such a crime. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Battery

500th block of Alisal Road, Solvang

A 57-year-old woman from Solvang reported that a 54-year-old female also from Solvang, grabbed her shirt and threw her against a refrigerator. The incident reportedly occurred after the 54-year-old female allegedly made sexual remarks to the 57-year-old, to which she claimed she did not respond to. A report was taken and the case was submitted for a D.A. complaint review.

 

Petty Theft

1500th block of Aallborg Way, Solvang

A 51-year-old male from Solvang reported that unknown suspect(s) entered his back yard and stole a lawn chair. The lawn chair’s estimated value was $100.00. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Fraud

3600 Sagunto St., Santa Ynez, (Mid-State Bank and Trust)

A 43-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported that she has 20 unauthorized charges to her bank account, totaling up to about $5,800. After informing the bank of the charges, her account was cancelled. The bank tracked down the payments, and found them to be made to a credit card, belonging to the woman’s estranged husband. The woman claimed that she hadn’t had contact with her ex-husband for seven years. A report was taken and the case was submitted for a detective follow-up.
