Arrest

East Highway 246 at Refugio Road,

Santa Ynez

A 23-year-old female from San Diego was arrested for allegedly carrying a concealed handgun, marijuana and Vicodin in her car. The arrest took place after police stopped her for swerving in and out of driving lanes. The officer then discovered that the woman had a bookable warrant for her arrest. Police searched her vehicle and allegedly found the illegal items. The woman was taken to the Santa Maria Jail.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

500 block of Second Place, Solvang

A 21-year-old female reported that she suspected that a child, whom she babysat, was being neglected. An incident report was taken and a courtesy report was sent to Child Protective Services.

Citation

Steel Street at Ballard Canyon Road,

Solvang

A 20-year-old female from Santa Ynez was issued a misdemeanor citation for allegedly having less than one ounce of marijuana in her possession. She was cited after police observed that her vehicle did not have a license plate light. The officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle. The woman admitted to having “weed” after police requested a search.

 

Arrest

Hollister Ranch, Gaviota

A 37-year-old male transient was arrested for allegedly trespassing on rail property after police received a report that a man had been walking on the Union Pacific Railroad line and causing a disruption in rail service, because the train had to stop. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Atterdag Road at Fir Street, Solvang

A male minor from Lompoc was arrested for allegedly violating his daytime curfew after he was seen waling on a public street during school hours. Police contacted the minor’s mother and he was released into her care after signing a promise to appear in court.

 

Lost Property

2939 Grand Ave, Los Olivos

(Deniel Gehrs Winery)

A 30-year-old female from Fullerton reported losing her wallet at the winery. The wallet contained her credit cards and about $70 in cash. She said she had recalled placing the wallet on top of the winery’s counter. She did not recall leaving with it. An incident report was taken.

Suspicious Circumstances

1700 block of Alisal Mesa Road, Solvang

A 54-year-old female reported witnessing illegal dumping by an unknown male suspect driving a dump truck. She claimed to have confronted the driver, but he reportedly was evasive and appeared to be nervous. Police went to the scene and discovered that the dumped material included three large piles of gray pre-cement and or dirt material. Because the woman had written the man’s license plate number down, the City of Solvang was able to confirm that the man did in fact have permission to dump the matter at that location.

 

Citation

West Bound on Nykobing, Solvang

A 33-year-old male was cited for allegedly driving without a valid California driver’s license and amplified music after police observed the vehicle and heard the music. The driver provided the officer with a Mexican identification card and claimed he could not obtain a license because he didn’t have a social security card.

 

Arrest

Highway 154 at Grand Avenue, Los Olivos

A 22-year-old male from Santa Ynez was arrested for allegedly falsely identifying himself to police during a routine traffic stop. The arrest occurred after police observed the vehicle swerving in and out of the driving lane. The man presented a Mexican driver’s license. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

(Chumash Casino)

A 53-year-old male from Lompoc was arrested for alleged public intoxication after security contacted the police and informed them that the man was passed out on the ground behind a trash can on casino property. It seemed that the man had also urinated on himself. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

First Street, Solvang

A minor was cited for allegedly not wearing a helmet while illegally riding a skateboard on the sidewalk. His skateboard was confiscated and he was released.

Burglary

2301 East Highway 154, Santa Ynez

(Cachuma Boat Rentals)

A 39-year-old male from Los Alamos reported that unknown suspects had forced open a window of the building and stolen $150 from the cash register and $500 from the safe. The owner of the boat rental said that he suspected that an employee who works on the weekend had committed the crime. A report was taken and the case was submitted for a Detective Follow-up.

 

Burglary

1555 Mission Drive, Solvang

A 23-year-old female from Lompoc reported that unknown suspects entered the restaurant through a window and stole between $800 and $1,200 from the cash register. The suspects also stole the entire safe. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

2975 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez

(Santa Ynez Union High School)

A minor reported that unknown suspects stole her iPod, valued at $190, from her backpack, which was sitting outside the classroom. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.

Check Forgery

591 Alamo Pintado, Solvang

(Valley Oaks Bank)

A 66-year-old male from Buellton reported that unknown suspects forged two checks on his son’s checking account and made them payable to Valley Multi Services Inc. in New York. The report was taken after the father discovered that there were overdraft charges on his son’s account. After comparing the two suspicious checks to other checks his son had written in the past, he determined that the checks were forged. Each check was in the amount of $189.82. A report was taken and forwarded to New York and the case was suspended pending leads.

Identity Theft

1800 block of Alamo Pintado

A 37-year-old male reported that unknown suspects fraudulently used his name and social security number to open a bank account and obtain credit over the internet. The suspects obtained a cash advance through United Cash Loans, based out of Miami and Oklahoma. An investigator from United Cash Loans was contacted and he said that it is common for thieves to use the internet at computers in public schools and libraries. A report was taken and the case was suspended pending leads.
