The Art Clinic, located at 1576 Copenhagen Drive in Solvang, asks pressing questions, such as: Are you suffering from chronic creative anemia? Having an Art Attack?

Carol Kemp and business partner Sid McCutcheon, help remedy such problems with a variety of classes and workshops for all ages and artistic levels.

The Art Clinic, once Carol and Sid’s personal studio, opened its doors to the public almost a year ago and has since been hosting classes ranging from fundamentals to mixed media to jewelry making.

Carol recently has reached out to the community’s younger artists with Tuesday after-school classes.

“Today we’re learning about observational art,” Kemp said.

“I talked a little about dimensions and cave paintings, then pulled out the animals and now we’re drawing,” she said.

Around the room, artists aged 6 to 14 rendered various miniature animal models on special paper with charcoal-like colored crayons. Moms, such as Pamela Brown, joined in the fun.

“It’s nice to do something with our hands without being the ones in charge,” she said.

Across the room, Kaela Gaylord, 8, commented, “Its fun to use many different ways to build a picture.”
