A 73-year-old male from Solvang was arrested for being drunk in public after police found the man lying on a curb. The man told police that he did not know what his name was and he was unable to stand up by himself. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

A 40-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for trespassing on casino property after he was detained by security for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The man had previously been banned from the casino for allegedly being involved in criminal activity. He was taken to the Solvang Sheriff’s station and released.

A 41-year-old male reported that a 60-year-old female from Glendale stole various items from the store, after a surveillance tape showed the woman putting things in her purse and leaving the store. The woman was detained and later released.

A 56-year-old male reported that an unknown suspect(s) pried open the mailbox. The man did not report that anything had been missing. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 40-year-old male from Goleta was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled him over for a broken taillight. Police observed that the man strongly smelled of alcohol and that his speech was slurred. The man refused to perform any of the DUI tests. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail and his car was impounded.

An 82-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown suspect(s) damaged a sign hanging in front of her farm. She also reported that this was the fifth time the sign had been damaged and that she thought the sign had been hit by a vehicle. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 39-year-old male from Santa Ynez was arrested for being drunk in public after police received a report that the drunken man had refused a cab ride. The man was unable to answer a simple question: police asked the man where he lived and he answered “yes.” He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

Casino staff reported that a 22-year-old male from Santa Maria, who previously had been employed by the casino, had embezzled about $57,000 over 16 months. The man had allegedly been transferring money from the casino’s Rabobank account into an account at Washington Mutual. Casino staff estimated that the man had completed 108 fraudulent transactions ranging from $700 to $1,000. A report was taken and a detective follow-up was recommended.

A 21-year-old male from Texas was arrested for being drunk in public after police received reports that the man was drinking with minors in the parking lot. When approached by an officer, the man refused to stop drinking. He was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.
