Brandishing a Firearm

20-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown white male had lifted
his shirt and brandished a handgun when he was in a business parking lot and
that the victim had decided to hide inside an office at a nearby business until
officers arrived. The victim reported that the suspect had been at a party the
evening before and had been in a fight in which an unknown male had been
beaten. The victim’s employer, who had called police initially, said he did not
believe the claim and asked police to investigate the incident further. The
victim told officers he is on probation and would not have reported the
incident if it had not happened.

RV Burglary
1532 Acorn Way, Solvang
A
67-year-old male from Solvang reported that unknown suspects had stolen a
television and miscellaneous items from inside a locked motor home. Cable wires
connecting the television were unplugged and intact but an 8-inch screw
attaching the television to a swivel bracket was bent. It was dusted for
fingerprints. A partial fingerprint was lifted from the unlocked kitchen
window. The victim told officers the motor home had been parked at an RV repair
shop during the time of the theft.
Petty Theft
2975 E. Hwy. 246, Santa Ynez

14-year-old juvenile reported the theft of an iPod music player and headphones
from a locker room at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. The items were taken
while the victim was attending physical education class and were left
unattended and unsecured in the locker room.

25-year-old male from Santa Maria was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail in
Santa Maria for possession of a lost credit card after officers noticed a
vehicle with Oregon license plates parked on the shoulder of the road and a
male and a female in the back seat. When the officer stopped to investigate, he
noticed they were putting on clothes. The officer asked for identification and
found the lost credit card in the suspect’s wallet. The suspect, who is on
parole, claimed he found the card in the parking lot of a gas station and put
it into his wallet but had not reported the card as found.

54-year-old male from Nipomo was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and
booked in Santa Barbara County Jail after being stopped by an officer
attempting to serve the warrants in the area of the Casino parking structure.

17-year-old juvenile from Buellton was cited after providing a false name to a
peace officer and for truancy. The juvenile and a friend, previously cited for
daytime curfew, were found in a business parking lot without permission to
leave the high school. When asked for valid identifications, the suspect gave
the officer a false name. The officer also made an attempt to contact the
juvenile’s parents by telephone; the juvenile was released to SYVUHS staff.

A
23-year-old male from Santa Maria was cited for trespassing at the Chumash
Casino. Casino staff reported that the suspect has been advised to not return
to the casino on two other occasions and that he was reportedly stalking a
female casino female employee.
Aggravated Trespass

A
40-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown male suspect had
entered her residence without authorization. She told officers the suspect had
entered the home through her daughters’ bedroom window and was standing over
her daughter’s bed when he was noticed. She said both daughters began to scream
and that the suspect ran through the hallway and out the front door, slamming
the door. Officers found the screen was not on the window and that there were
smudges on the exterior of the window.

19-year-old male transient was cited for being in possession of marijuana and
drug paraphernalia after police pulled him over following a report of a
suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence on that street. After the
suspect was released, police noticed a problem with the vehicle’s registration.

Mission Dr. at First St., Solvang
A
26-year-old female from Santa Ynez was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail in
Santa Maria for several violations after her vehicle was stopped for not having
working rear lights. The suspect was found to have an expired and
suspended/revoked California driver license and an outstanding misdemeanor
warrant. The vehicle was inspected and marijuana cigarettes were found inside,
along with methamphetamine paraphernalia in a plastic container. When the
suspect provided a urine sample at the police station, it tested positive for
amphetamines, methamphetamines and tetrahydrocannabinol
metabolites.
Attempted Burglary

A
52-year-old male from Solvang reported an attempted burglary at his business.
Officers found the west-facing front door had been damaged when unknown
suspects had tried unsuccessfully to pry it open.
Petty Theft
2975 E. Hwy. 246, Santa Ynez
A
17-year-old juvenile reported that a wallet was stolen during the nutrition
break at the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. The wallet reportedly
contained $135 cash and personal identity cards. A surveillance camera in the
area was not recording at the time of the incident.

Auto Burglary
1500 Block of Oak St., Solvang
A
29-year-old male from Solvang reported the theft of a CD changer from a locked
parked motor home and a five-gallon can of gas from the bumper. Unknown
suspects removed the rear window on the motor home and looked through cabinets
and drawers, then left through a passenger door, also taking the gas can.

43-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested for being under the influence of
methamphetamine after officers received a report from Casino staff that he had
been detained. The suspect had lost his wallet, which appeared to contain
methamphetamine, and was detained when he came to the front desk looking for
his wallet. A small amount of marijuana was found in the suspect’s jacket after
he was searched. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara
County Jail for possession of a controlled substance in a public place.
