Volunteers
are needed by numerous organizations in Santa Ynez Valley this season. Most
needs are ongoing and will extend into the new year.
People
Helping People needs volunteers for its food program, according to Josie Mora,
new food coordinator.
Drivers
with an SUV or van are needed to pickup and deliver groceries to homes in the
Buellton area, a task that should take about two hours. Every Thursday a
volunteer is needed to pick up groceries and deliver them to rural homes in
Santa Ynez.
Other
volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts to unload food trucks every other
Thursday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and pack grocery bags for pickup and
delivery.

information is available by calling 686-0295.
The
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Old Mission Santa Ines Conference in Solvang is
seeking seasonal help and sponsors.
The
group needs toys, new and unwrapped, for 350 children; food baskets and
non-perishable items for 100 families; and sponsors for the Adopt-A-Family
program, for 100 families in extreme need. Sponsors would purchase gifts and
food for the families.
Financial
gifts can be mailed to the Society at P.O. Box 408, Solvang, CA 93464 and
donations can be brought to the Mission, 1760 Mission Dr., Solvang.
Volunteers
are needed on an ongoing basis for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Services, a
group that matches volunteers 55 years of age and over with non-profit and
public agencies in the area. In Solvang, the Solvang Chamber of Commerce needs
a counter person to help answer phones.
Also
the Elverhoj Museum of History and Art needs a docent
for one or two shifts per month from 1 to 4 p.m., who would help with the
phones at the museum and open and close the facility.
Other
volunteers are needed in Santa Maria and Lompoc. For more information the
Services group can be reached at 922-9931.
