Meet Deedee Hatch, owner of The Radiance Tanning and Boutique at 225 Mc Murray Rd. in Buellton. Although not a native of Buellton, she has lived here for 7 years. Deedee has been married for 5 months and looks forward to starting a family in the future. Initially she was a veterinary assistant for 7 years but decided that she wanted to achieve more for herself and plunged into the world of retail.
The idea for the tanning and boutique facility came about as a result of Deedee doing research in the area and finding that there was a need for this particular type of business in the Valley area. After visiting other tanning facilities in the surrounding areas and becoming educated and certified in the field of tanning procedures specifically, UV, Sunlight and Airbrush she felt this was a venture that would bring pleasure to both her and her clients. This was not something that would happen overnight, as most business owners know, you have to become familiar with all the many laws, city codes and requirements that must be adhered to in order to run a successful business.
The Radiance Tanning and Boutique offers (2) UV 13 minute beds and (2) UV 15 minute beds as opposed to the older 30 minute beds. Her equipments are brand new. She also offers the Airbrush tanning as opposed to the Spray Suit. Her clients seem to feel that they get a more even look with the Airbrush procedure. Deedee likes to think that she has an advantage over other facilities that offer tanning by having the 13 and 15 minute beds for the busy client who come in during their lunch breaks and still have time to enjoy a lunch.
Deedee also did quite a bit of research to determine what the residents in the area, being primarily in the age bracket of between 18 and 45 would be willing to buy as far as clothes and beauty products and the prices they would consider affordable. Her boutique offers a variety of clothing items such as lingerie, women’s and men’s clothing and is expecting her first shipment of jeans shortly. There are also a variety of beauty products and jewelry. She prides herself in offering products that are of top quality to her clientele and keeping an ear out as to what else could be done to gain customer satisfaction. When you walk into the boutique you get a sense of peacefulness. You are not bombarded with clothing everywhere and products cluttering every empty space. The boutique caters to both men and women and Deedee is proud to point out that her first client was a man.
