Buelton's Easter Eggstravaganza Draws Record Crowd

By Kyle Abello

Nearly 1,000 kids, parents and grandparents turned out for the 18th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza and Egg Hunt on April 7, in its first year at a new venue, Buellton's River View Park.

It could have been the offfer of a delicious pankake and sausage breakfast, or perhaps it was the carnival booths and group games, or maybe it was the lure of a plethora of hidden eggs for eager hunters; but whatever it was that brought them to the event, once there it was nothing but Easter fun for one and all.

Originally the brainchild of the Solvang Recreation of the Solvang Recreation Department, this beloved community event is now jointly sponsored by both Solvang and Buellton Recreation in conjunction with The Well Church. For those who missed this year's Eggstravaganza.

The Great Ice Cream Scheme

By Kyle Abello

The Christian Academy proudly presesnted The Great Ice Cream Scheme, with one presentation on Thursday, April 14th and another on Saturday evening.

The drama students, under the leadership of Mrs. Lori Kennedy, who has been teaching and directing melodrama for the Santa Ynez Valley Christian for more than 10 years.

The students were astounding, comical and enjoyed performing for about 115 Santa Ynez Valley spectators. Nana Peel (Lonny Tamasini) was fanciful on stage, his great acting performance kept the audience and children amused. I.C. Custard (David Imani) and Parfait Deluxe (Meredith Stewart) had a malevolent plan to steal the secret Ice Cream Recipe. Aahh, the attractive Robin Baskins (Ethan Ooms) and Marsha Mallow (Melissa Caughell) love performance was sweet and lovely. And let's not forget the surprising appearances of Ernie, (Kenny Spaar) and the rest of the team who performed superbly on this blustery evening.
