Pink Celebrates History of Song
Solvang-The all-girl singing
group, PINK, celebrated in style after their spring concert, “Renaissance
to Rap”. The concert featured songs from the 1500’s to today,
including selections from the Baroque church period and African American
spirituals. The Callaghan family graciously hosted this concert at their lovely
ranch home. PINK is directed by Kathryn Imani, who
founded the group three years ago. PINK meets weekly at Song in My Heart
Studio in Frederik’s Court. The group will
be touring the valley’s retirement homes in June, for an Arts Outreach
sponsored Elder Reach event. The Fall season will
begin at the end of September. Imani will also be
starting a singing group for 7th-8th grade girls--HOT
PINK in the fall. She plans to extend the use of harmony, style and
choreography with this group, saying, “The girls who have sung in PINK
for three years are really ready for more sophisticated music. I’m
excited about the opportunity to work with them on a higher level.”In
addition to PINK, Song In My Heart Studio offers Suzuki Guitar and Piano

Marathon attracted nearly 1,700 runners to the Valley. At 7:00am on Sunday, May 13, 2007, more
than 1,650 registered runners lined up at the race starting line on

Celebrates Ticktockers
Members of the S.Y. Chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) enjoyed their most special yearly gathering. The Senior Presentation was held at the Marriott in Buellton on Sunday, March 18th to celebrate and send off thirteen young women, their Senior Ticktockers.
During Senior Presentation, a culmination of six years of philanthropic, cultural and educational mother-daughter activities were presented. Teri Harmon, President Elect, presented the girls called, Ticktockers, to family and friends.
They celebrating special experiences and achievements, with focus on their philanthropic activities in the many charities served by NCL in the Valley community.
Younger Ticktockers were very inspired by these activities along with the plans and dreams the parting girls shared for their future.
“National Charity League is a mother-daughter philanthropic, social and cultural organization. The mothers, called Patronesses, and the daughters, Ticktockers, join in a six-year commitment to community service.” Explains Kristi Marks, current president.
