Solvang plans traditional bonfire
In
keeping with tradition, area residents can attend this year’s annual Christmas
tree burn on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Old Mission Santa Inés.
Sponsored by the City of Solvang, the event will be supervised by the Santa
Barbara County Fire Department, which will also give safety demonstrations on
fire hazards.
Promoted
as one of the largest community fire safety programs, the event includes information
on how burning Christmas trees in fireplaces can cause fires on rooftops and
damage to the inside of the fireplace.
Residents of Solvang can leave their trees on the curb by
9 a.m. on Jan. 11 to be picked up by Health Sanitation Services. Otherwise
trees without stands and ornaments can be brought to the burn site after Jan.
