Great Olga Reed School fundraiser features Wild West theme

Olga Reed School of Los Alamos announces its fourth annual auction dinner fundraiser this year will have a “Wild West” theme, and will be held at the Los Alamos Men’s Club at 429 Leslie Street on Saturday, June 7.

The evening includes a puzzle-piece treasure hunt for kids, finding historical dignities at the event from 4-5:30 p.m., dinner from 5:30-7, live auction from 7-8 p.m., and a Wild West costume contest, with two age categories, that will be judged by the participants. The menu is “Old West Style” barbecue beef and chicken dinner and ‘fixin’s” of course, and advance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children age 12 and under. Tickets at the door will be available for $14 for adults, and $7 for children age 12 and under. You do not have to wear a costume to attend the festivities.

All proceeds benefit the seventh and eighth grade students’ trip to Washington, D. C next year. Advance tickets may be purchased by mail. Checks may be made payable to the Education Foundation and sent to P.O. Box 318, Los Alamos, CA, 93440 by June 3, or you may pay by credit card if you include the card number, expiration date, credit card validation number, and please include your phone number, signature and the number of tickets requested. Phone Nancy Taylor at (805) 692-1765 for further information.

Local artist Hugh Sladen has donated two pieces of art, and will be painting an 8-foot mural for the event as well. Sladen is the artist featured on the tables at A.J. Spurs. The Mesa Creek Band will be performing from 8-11 p.m. and a no-host bar will be open from 5-11 p.m. So wear your “Best West” and come support a good cause, sending “our little gunslingers” to Washington, D.C.
