Seniors
gear up for end-of-year festivities
As the
temperature rises, so do the excitement and anticipation of the Senior Class of
2008 at Santa Ynez High School. The graduation caps and gowns have arrived and
students are sending graduation announcements out in preparation for
commencement.
Senior
Awards Night will be held on May 28 in the high school’s new gym. That evening
will be an award-scholarship presentation ceremony to honor the achievements of
the class of 2008.
On June
5, many of the seniors will attend an all-night trip to grad night at
Disneyland. This trip is an opportunity for students, and for teacher and
parent chaperones, to enjoy the many Disney attractions while making lasting
memories.
The
senior breakfast will take place when the seniors return from grad night on
June 6.
Yearbooks
will be handed out at the breakfast so students can exchange autographs and
share recollections about their high school experiences.
Baccalaureate,
a spiritual celebration and time of reflection, will occur that Sunday, June 8,
at a location that will be announced. Seniors will share their experiences
through various media, and some local religious leaders will be present as
well.
The festivities will culminate on June 15
at the commencement of the class of 2008. After the graduation ceremony, there
will be an all-night senior graduation party, with the theme “Adventure on the
High Seas.” The seniors will finally celebrate their dedication, and look
forward to their promising futures.
