Smyser’s donations continue
from outside district
Third
District supervisor candidate Dave Smyser continues
to raise substantial contributions from developers and development interests
outside the district.
Smyser’s latest Campaign Disclosure Statement
for the two-month period ending May 17 reveals large contributions from donors
in Newport Beach, Santa Barbara, Irvine, Santa Rosa and Santa Maria. The high-dollar
donations represent approximately 30 percent of the money Smyser
raised during the period.
According
to Smyser’s California Form 460, on which donations
are reported to the state’s Fair Political Practices Commission, his campaign
received $10,000 from Santa Maria Pacific LLC of Santa Maria on April 15;
$6,000 from Pat Huguenard of Santa Rosa, a manager at
Jackson Family Wines Inc.; $5,000 each from Ray Wirta
of Irvine, described as an investor, and David L. Pratt of Santa Maria, an
executive of Santa Maria Pacific LLC; $4,900 from the Santa Barbara Rental
Property Association of Santa Barbara; and $1,000 each from Manfred Sander of
Santa Maria, described as a rancher; and Joseph Centino
for Supervisor, the 5th District supervisor’s re-election committee.
Smyser’s campaign also received a $3,640
in-kind contribution from the Bacara Resort, the cost
of a fund-raiser staged there earlier but not reported until the latest period.
Smyser’s
campaign raised slightly less than $71,000 during the period and spent slightly
more than $134,000.
