Solvang Chamber installs new board
It
was an evening of good food, good friends and gratuities for members of the
Solvang Chamber of Commerce at their annual installation dinner Jan. 17 at the
Sycamore Room at the Alisal Ranch.
Twelve
board members and officers were sworn in by Solvang’s new mayor, Linda Jackson,
who also happens to be the chamber’s executive director.
The
group repeated the oath to serve and then Linda Johansen, president, handed out
awards of merit to community leaders.
Serving
on the chamber board this next year will be David Rasmussen, vice president;
Tami Jo Dotson, secretary; Wolfgang Kanschat,
treasurer; and Kenneth Harwood, Dorothy Brunton, Lana
Clark, Sharon Harris, John Martino, Vicki Morehouse, Maggie Ream, Jim Watts,
and Susan Williams, all board members.
Members
receiving individual recognition included Kathy Vreeland, Buellton Chamber
acting executive director; Mike Hendrik, Santa Ynez
Valley Visitors Association board president; Mary Harris, SYVVA executive
director; Tracy Farhad, Solvang Visitor’s Bureau
executive director; and David Brents, chief executive
officer, Chumash Casino Resort and Spa.
Community
volunteers receiving plaques recognizing their time and donations included Ruth
Hoover, Scott Pickens, the Chumash Casino Resort and Spa, and Helen and Daryl
Nielsen.
The event featured a buffet dinner,
which followed a reception and an hour of networking. More than 50 members and
guests attended.
