Woman arrested on murder-for-hire
charges
SACRAMENTO
(AP)
– A Michigan woman accused of soliciting for a hit man on the popular online
bulletin board Craigslist will be returned to California to face charges.
A
federal judge on Tuesday ordered Ann Marie Linscott,
49, of Rockford, Mich., extradited to Sacramento to face federal charges that
she tried to get someone to kill the 56-year-old wife of an Oroville man. FBI
agents say Linscott posted a generic Craigslist
advertisement for “freelance,” and offered respondents $5,000 to be “silent
assassins.”
Defense
lawyer David Kaczor said he was disappointed Linscott will remain jailed until she is brought to
California and won’t be allowed to report to California on her own.
The husband and the intended victim have not been
identified, but the FBI said the man acknowledged meeting Linscott
through an online college course more than two years ago and that the two have
met twice since then.
