Free food film

A
free screening of “Tableland” will be presented Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. by the Santa
Ynez Film Group at Grange Hall, 2374 Alamo Pintado
Avenue, Los Olivos.
Hosted
by New Frontiers Natural Marketplace, the screening will include complimentary
food before the film, courtesy of Olga Purington,
Live Foods Coach.
Doors
will open at 6:15 p.m. and seating and food will be on a first come,
first-served basis.

Slide show planned at
concert
Photographer
Henry Diltz will present a new slide show during the
Tales from the Tavern spring concert series Feb.13 at the Maverick Saloon in
Santa Ynez. Diltz’s presentation will be followed
with a concert by Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, who return for their
third performance.
Diltz is best known for his photographs of
rock groups. This is his second presentation as one of the performers in the
series.
Guthrie
is the daughter of Arlo Guthrie and the granddaughter
of Woody Guthrie. Johnny Iron is her husband.
Other
performers in the series include Michael Smith, Katy Moffat, Audrey
Auld Mezera with Andrew Colvin, Danny O’Keefe,
Jeffrey Foucault, Country Joe McDonald, Peter Mulvey
and Patty Larkin.
Since
the series began in 2003, more than 45 concerts, featuring more than 75 artists
have been presented.

Elverhøj plans annual event
The
Elverhøj Museum of History and Art will host its
annual winter event, Valley Wines and Valentines, Feb. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at
the Museum, 1624 Elverhoy Way, Solvang.
Admission
is free and the public is welcome.
Proceeds
from a silent auction will benefit the museum. The auction features a handful
of select items including special wine, meals at favorite valley restaurants,
and gift baskets.
The
evening will include Danish cheese board, fruit and chocolates complemented
with tastings of local wines. Live music and candlelight will add to the
evening’s ambience.
Winners
of the Fabulous Valentine drawing will be selected at 6 p.m. Grand prize is
“Cupid’s Wine Cellar,” a 24-bottle wine collection donated by local vintners.
Two first-prize winners will receive a 12-bottle wine collection.
Additional
winners will receive gift baskets and restaurant gift certificates. For more

New dance classes
added
Fossemalle Dance Studios will
add two new classes for beginning students, a jazz class at 3 p.m. on
Wednesdays, and a beginning tap class at 2:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Classes
will cover the basics of these two styles of dance and have limited enrollment.
The
studio also offers an array of rhythm, ballet, jazz, jazz-hip-hop and tap
classes at more advanced levels.
Rehearsals
for “An Invitation to Dance,” presented by the Santa Ynez Valley Performing
Arts Company, the official dance company affiliated with the Dance Studio, will
begin the week of Feb. 11.
