A 41-year-old male from Solvang was cited for driving without a valid California driver’s license and no proof of insurance after an officer caught the man speeding in a 25 mph zone. His car was impounded for 30 days.

3300 block of Manzana St., Santa Ynez

A 54-year-old female from Santa Maria was arrested for filing a false police report after she reported that someone had set some sheets and a mattress on fire.

After investigating the supposed crime, the officer concluded that the woman was filing a false report to cover-up damage that he believed the woman’s boyfriend caused.

She was taken to the Santa Barbara County Jail.

600 block of Atterdag Road, Solvang

A 21-year-old female from Solvang reported that an unknown suspect(s) broke into her car and stole her jacket and CDs. The estimated damage and value of the stolen items was $550.

The case was suspended pending leads.

Edison and Sagunto Streets, Santa Ynez

A 31-year-old male from Los Angeles was cited for driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and expired registration after police observed that the license plate had an expired registration sticker. The man’s car was impounded for 30 days.

A 57-year-old male from Buellton was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol after an officer caught the man speeding. Initially, the man denied drinking any alcohol, but later admitted to drinking one beer.

He was cited and released and his car was towed because he had not paid his registration fees.

A 37-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown suspect(s) broke his car window and stole his wallet. It did not contain any cash, but did contain credit cards and the victim’s driver’s license. The estimated value of the wallet was $20. The case was recommended for a detective’s follow-up.

A 35-year-old female from Solvang reported that an unknown suspect(s) stole cash and a computer monitor from the inn. The back door had been pried open. The case was recommended for a detective’s follow-up.

A 48-year-old male from Solvang reported that an unknown suspect(s) stole a Pepsi machine from the front of the business. The vending machine was valued at $2,500. A week prior to the theft of the vending machine, an employee reported that $80 was missing from the machine and that a lock had been blown out. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 70-year-old male from Santa Maria reported that an unknown suspect(s) broke into his vehicle and stole a GPS system. The driver’s side window was broken and glass was found on the seat. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 32-year-old female from Oxnard was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance after casino security reportedly found a methamphetamine pipe in her purse. She failed sobriety testes and a urine sample taken at Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital tested positive for methamphetamine. She was issued a citation and released.
