Tile sale and fundraiser

Michelle Griffoul Studios will have a warehouse sale and fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for the POLO Park Foundation, with 20% of all sales going to help maintain the Lavinia Campbell Park in Los Olivos. The sale takes place at 84 D Industrial Way, Buellton.

Donations sought

Local farmer Randy Jacobsen is at the end stage of renal failure; three months ago, he began Perennial Dialysis at home. Recently, it was learned through testings that Will Moniot is a perfect match for Jacobsen. The transplant surgery was slated for July 27 in San Francisco.

Bringing Our Brothers Home

The American Legion, Orcutt Post 534, is sponsoring a free presentation on the work and mission of the Joint POW / MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), whose goal is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all American service men and women whose fate went unknown during the United States military engagements in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, World War II (Pacific theatre) and the Cold War eras. The program is titled Bringing Our Brothers Home, and is presented by Dr. Marin Pilloud, who was born and raised in the Central Coast of California.

Shelter gets funding

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has secured funding to renovate the County Animal Shelter in Lompoc, which serves more than 4,000 annually. The renovations will result in improvements to the facility, built in 1970. The estimated completion date for the renovation is in the fall/winter of 2012.

Letís play

Arts Outreach is holding its 2011 Summer Youth Community Theater production of Crazy for You at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, through Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Santa Ynez Valley High School Theater.

Reserved tiered seating will be available for all performances for $10, $15 or $20. Horse and mule

The Western Horse and Mule Show will be Saturday at the SYV Equestrian Center on 195 N. Refugio Road. First class starts at 8 a.m. Classes will include Halter, Showmanship, Trail, Horsemanship and Pleasure. There will be Ranch Horse classes as well. This year we have added a special Pleasure class for participants of the Therapeutic Riding Program.
